Diamond Geezer

I know Diamond Bob managed to hold off a bunch of half-baked MPs whose line of questioning owed more to soap operas than forensic examination (e.g. John Thurso LibDem MP - 'would you like to say something to small businessmen'). More - 'outraged of Surbiton' -  than Rumpole.  But embarrassing though the MPs were
'The accounts of (BD's) interaction with the regulators over whether an artificial lowering of the rate was sanctioned conflicted with his insistence that the first he knew of the allegations was when he read the regulators' settlement report last month.' (FT 5 July.) And this is surely the crux of the matter. BD knew. And if he knew then it was the boss of the operation that knew. If he was the boss then he led it. That's the way it works when it comes to the important decisions in our democratic country.
