Summer hols

The Financial Times of 20 July published a minor article with news about our banking friends. They received £14 Billion in bonuses in 2009/10. The poor things only got £12 Billion in 2008/9. We are still not quite there yet though. In 2006/7 and 2007/8 (which includes the year that the banks crashed) they pocketed £19 Billion each year!

Take heart. Last year's treats were still 58% higher than they were at the beginning of this century. And the financiers still get 40% of the total bonuses dished out by the whole of British industry - while making up barely 4% of its employees!
